Personality and Psychology:

For the vast majority of his life, Finn wasn’t Finn at all, but a designation, known as FN-2187. He grew up within the First Order, thrust into stormtrooper training from the moment he was separated from his family, which was when he was still too young to even remember them. That being said, at the core of his personality are a lot of traits suited for a life in the military. He’s brave, able to act quickly in times of danger and make decisions in an instant. He’s intelligent, able to adapt to a variety of situations and come up with the best route to get a desired outcome. He has strong leadership skills, and was considered one of the best stormtroopers the First Order had in their ranks. He was everything they wanted in a trainee, and even his superior talked highly of him and wanted him to succeed and move up the ranks.

One thing they hadn’t counted on, however, was his very deep empathy.

Despite being able to provide a kill shot with every pull of the trigger on his blaster in simulations, when he went down to Jakku, and even after his best friend was killed in front of him, he wasn’t able to fire on the unarmed civilians, despite knowing that he would get caught having disobeyed his orders. This is huge, considering what it led to. After returning from the mission, he nearly immediately decided to defect, and though rescuing Poe was a necessity considering he couldn’t fly the ship out of the hangar himself, he still very quickly realized that Poe was not his enemy, despite the extensive mental conditioning that he would have received from the First Order over the course of his entire lifetime.

Not to mention that, when he thought that Poe had died in the crash and subsequent destruction of their ship, he seemed to be genuinely upset about it.

This deep caring for other people, especially those he considers good and innocent, is seen again and again after this moment. This is especially apparent after befriending Rey, as he’s repeatedly desperate to keep her safe, asking her to abandon their mission so they can run from the First Order together and then even embarking on a near suicide mission to try and rescue her after she refuses and is captured by Kylo Ren.

The only times in which his fear starts to override his good heart is when it comes to the First Order itself. He knew what they were capable of, having been in the center of it all for his entire life, and it terrifies him. That said, when it comes down to those closest to him, it’s easy enough for him to push aside, though he does experience consistent moments of agitation, loss of composure, and a desire to flee where the First Order is concerned. This is likely because he sees it as the greatest danger to his safety and his mental health, so if he were to encounter another equally capable group or organization, he would likely have a similar reaction, though not quite so strongly if only because he isn’t as intimately aware of their inner workings.

His friendships with Rey and Poe were both created very quickly and became intensely important to him. They were the first two people he met after he decided to separate from the First Order, which had previously been his entire identity. They gave him the freedom to be whoever he wanted to be and to make his own decisions, and Poe was even the one to give him a real name. This allowed him to be his own person, instead of just a soldier, and there isn’t a moment that goes by where he’s not grateful that these were his first friends outside of the order. Rey, in particular, is important, because she trusts him very quickly and doesn’t turn her back on him when she eventually learns the truth about who he used to be. Their relationship grows quickly but deeply, partially because of all the intense situations they’re thrown in together where they have to rely on one another to survive, and partially because it’s the first time for both of them to leave the places they spent their entire life and try to make something of their lives, and they end up trying to find that purpose together.

When not in a stressful situation, which happens to be the majority of the movie. Finn is likely actually a pretty light-hearted individual. He likes to have fun and enjoy the company of others, and is approachable and friendly. In more peaceful times, it’s likely that he would make friends easily, and there’s no doubt that he would be an incredibly loyal and worthy friend.

Memories Retained or Lost: Finn retains the bulk of his most recent memories, though there are giant chunks of his stormtrooper training missing.

Powers and Abilities: Finn has extensive experience with all kinds of armor and high tech light and heavy weaponry due to his lifelong training as a stormtrooper. He has incredible skill with these items, able to make kill shots with nearly every pull of the trigger and very accurate aim with all kinds of weapons. He can easily adapt to using new weapons as he comes across them as well. His training has also provided him with high stamina, strength and dexterity, though not outside of normal human limits.

It’s also a very believable theory that Finn is force sensitive, especially in areas of empathy and mental strength, so I will be making him force sensitive in the game, though to a much lesser extent than a jedi or someone talented in it such as Rey.

Any other important information (including special inventory items in their possession): He would likely have a blaster on him.

Why do you think this character would join/work with the Knights? He basically joined the resistance back home. He doesn’t want bad guys to win. Rey and Poe are there.

Do you have a preference for which member of the Knights your character is squired to? Nope!
